Karla Black, Brains are Really Everything
This exhibit is a 3D construction of layers in soil, at a steep gradient. There are 8 layers of soil, then a layer of yellow dust with soap distributed on top. Since the beginning of the exhibition the piece has distorted due to time, heat and exposure to the air; cracks have begun to appear and layers have begun to merge with each other creating a very temporary exhibit that seems to echo of mortality. The opposites in this piece are very interesting. Soap opposes the soil and the layers contrast each other, interesting though, is that the "pile of dirt" refers to the soap and soil alike, opposites are made one.
