I decided to write about Karla Blacks piece Brains are really everything.
This is a 3D piece made from layers of mud which is sculptured and shaped by hand. The different coloured layers of soil are showing more distinction as the soil dries. You can see the finger and odd foot prints on the soil showing how it was created. The piece doesn't try to disguise what it is and how it was created. The bright yellow powder paint and coloured soap in red and yellow create a definite contrast to the natural material of the mud.
Karla re makes the piece at every venue taking into account the space and architectural features.
The piece then becomes a metamorphosis of its original form.
